Little Kid Drives 1,000 HP Train Locomotive - All Aboard!

’Big Engineer’ got to operate a real working diesel train engine during ’Rail Fest 2016’ at the Orange Empire Railway Museum! The locomotive is a 1941 Alco RS-1 diesel-electric. It has a turbocharged in line 6-cylinder, 4-stroke diesel engine producing 1,000 horsepower which is then converted into 756kW of DC electricity by a GE generator. The locomotive is about 15’ tall, 10’ long, and weighs over 120 tons. Top speed = 65 mph. Stopping power comes from independent air brakes. The Alco RS-1 features
