Musical Theatre Quarantine Karaoke - Round 1

Welcome to Quarantine Karaoke. With everything going on in the world, Broadway shut down, and most of us in some form of self-quarantine, we wanted to give our channel viewers an opportunity to showcase their singing, enjoy the catharsis that music can bring, and appreciate one another’s talents! We can still socially distance without feeling alone, and this project has brought together musical theatre fans from opposite sides of the globe to remind us that we really are all in this together (pardon the HSM reference). Our community is strong enough to overcome the difficult times that we are currently living in as well as those that lie ahead. So sit back and enjoy almost two hours of singing from the brave guinea pigs who were willing to submit recordings of themselves singing to be posted on the internet. Put this video on in the background and enjoy the distraction — we promise you will be impressed with the voices you hear — or make a night of it and watch it from start to finish! We are moderating comments to ensure that this zone promotes positivity only. No one wants to hear your judgment of your fellow MT fans, but words of encouragement, praise, and solidarity will certainly be appreciated! It wouldn’t have been possible to include all the submissions we got in one video without it stretching beyond 3 hours long (which is pretty incredible in and of itself), so this video is simply Round 1 of Quarantine Karaoke. If you submitted a video and don’t see yourself featured here, don’t fret — we still have your email to add to one of our upcoming showcases. We minimized repeat songs this time (while still including a couple recordings of some of the most frequently-submitted), so we’ve already got a head start on collecting performances for the next video! If you have stumbled upon this video and missed our original call for submissions, please consider submitting yourself singing a song for our next round. Make a friend in the comments and coordinate to sing a duet, trio, or group number (and then email us so that we can try to facilitate that process in a way that will work for everyone). The details for submissions are listed below, and we would love to add your voice to the next video! Submission guidelines for Round Two: - Sing along to one of the karaoke tracks on this channel (about 100 available) or one of the piano accompaniment tracks we have posted on @MusicalPracticeTracks (more than 1000 available). While we would love to hear a wider variety of songs, copyright prevents us from posting anyone else’s backing tracks. - It’s preferable if you record with headphones on and we’ll add the backing track underneath — much better sound quality this way. - If you want to perform a duet or group number, why not ask a friend or post in the comments and try to find someone to sing with (they might be across the globe and you might make a new friend). We had some trouble putting duets and trios together for Round One, so send us an email first and we will help coordinate how you can sing together without the recordings getting out of sync. - You must be 13 or older to send in a video (sorry — YouTube rules) and by submitting, you tacitly give us permission to re-post, forfeit all rights to your video, etc. - Email your submissions to musicalpracticetracks@ by March 31st to be considered for the next round. As long as the videos keep getting viewers and the experience keeps being a positive one, we will keep posting videos until this quarantine period is behind us! Support us on Patreon: PayPal tip jar:
