Photographer Of The Famous (1960)

Kensington, London. M/S of some black and white photographs of sculptor Sir Charles Wheeler, President of the Royal Academy since 1956, at work. The pictures are laid out on some red patterned fabric; zoom in to C/U of the centre photo showing Sir Charles with arms outstretched. More photos from the same session are placed on top. M/Ss of Sir Charles in his studio, working on a large statue with his assistant on the day the pictures were taken. Two sculptures of female figures are seen either side of his work area. C/U of the base of a stepladder as we see a lady’s feet and legs (in seamed stockings and black high heels - sexy!) start to climb the ladder; she kicks off her shoes and climbs up in her stockinged feet. M/S as Ida Kar appears at the top of the sculpture with her camera (and a great beehive hairdo); she looks down to take as shot, and Sir Charles carries on working while she directs him.
