Leaving for a journey in 1896 - Restored Footage

Restored footage from 1896 of a group of people boarding a horse-drawn carriage and then saying their goodbyes before departing. This footage was filmed by motion picture pioneer Louis Lumière. Featured in the footage are friends and family of Louis: Antoine Féraud, Jeanne Koehler, Marguerite Lumière, Rose Lumière, Antoine Lumière, Madeleine Koehler, and André Honnorat. Brothers Auguste and Louis Lumière created one of the first motion picture cameras, the Cinématographe Lumière. Footage frame rate increased, upscaled and “colorized” by HistoryColored using AI technology.
