Wallace Chan at the Tefaf 2017. Dragon brooches

Tefaf2017 “Children can find each other“🖎In Chinese culture many years ago, when parents had two children, they would take a piece of jade, cut it into half and make rings, that are identical. And then they would give each piece to one child, so when they are separated by war, or by any reasons, they can have the jade piece to identify each other, to remember they came from the same family.“ ✏He also used emerald and ruby, because it’s Yin and Yang. The red color means “passion, love”. But you can’t just have passion all the time to know how to be calm. So you have green, means “peace, calm”. And Mr. Chan says that, if you have both, you know passion and you know how to be calm, you achieved the perfect balance. So it’s about emotions. He also crafted these sapphires like clouds, because the dragon lifts in the sky and on the clouds.
