Orthodox priest heckles Pope Francis during Greece visit to highlight migrant crisis

Pope Francis arrived in Athens on Saturday for the second leg of a visit to the Mediterranean that aims to draw attention to the plight of migrants and refugees. After a two-day visit to Cyprus, the pope travelled to Greece, one of the main entry points into the European Union for asylum-seekers fleeing war and poverty-stricken homelands in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. As the pope was entering the Orthodox Archbishopric in Athens, an elderly Orthodox priest shouted “Pope, you are a heretic,” a reminder of the lingering distrust between the two divided churches. In a speech at the presidential palace, Francis urged a return to politics that favour the common good and are not steeped in instilling fear.
