The Ancient, Aramaic Kaddish Sung and Played to a Melody

This melody came to me one night before I was going to sing at a funeral years ago. When I had learned of this ancient Jewish prayer I felt deeply connected to it, because it was mainly considered a mourner’s prayer but the words were all of praise to God. How amazing is it that the first thing this prayer recognizes in the midst of a tragedy is that God is good! That’s how Job prayed, that even when everything he cared for had been destroyed he said, “the LORD gives, the LORD takes away, praised be the name of the LORD“. We all know to praise during the good times but may we also learn to praise during the hard times.
