Happy St. Paddy’s Day! Here are some fun Irish Fiddle Tunes: A Fig for a Kiss, which is a slip jig, and Breakout, which is a modern tune by Ronan Hardiman for Lord of the Dance. Both of the tunes have a “slide“ vibe to me, so I tried to play them kind of bouncy. I hope that you like this version of the tunes! They are fun tunes to mix into things. A lot of people like the Breakout tune but don’t always realize it’s not a trad tune -- it also sounds nice with Coleraine. I’m an advocate for mixing old and new tunes together in a set, even though I know some people don’t really like that... I just think there is a lot we can learn from the old tunes and modern music. We can mix some of the jazzy modern stuff with some of the traditional music and make something fun and different. I recorded this footage back in 2020 in Crested Butte, Colorado.
