American Call Up (1916-1918)

American Call-up. United States of America. New recruits arrive at Army camp for basic training. Some good material. Opens w/ DS train stopped on railway tracks; not at a station - must be directly at an army camp. Men in civilian dress stepping off train; carrying bags etc; other men standing around. The men walking down dirt road; front diag. shot. Then a shot looking across a huge puddle; the new recruits walking to left on other side; so that there’s a reflection of the line in the water; barracks in BG. Next; 2 Army officers examine the new men (still in civilian clothes); they go down the row looking in their mouths - some brief dental exam? GV a bunch of men in old-fashioned swimsuits running across beach into water (toward camera which must be on on something out in water). DS these guys in the water; jumping up & down; splashing; smiling; laughing; having fun. The new soldiers marching in long rows; most still wearing regular trousers and shirts; but carrying rifles. They line up
