Chester to Piccadilly

It’s a fabulous day in summer 2020 and our traction is a Class 175. It runs out to Warrington then catches up with the Chat Moss Line at Earlestown. We then have a spookily quiet run through Manchester with hardly a soul in sight. For a little treat, we stay on the unit while it changes direction in Mayfield Loop. We get to learn about the Sutton Tunnel accident of 1851, why we join the WCML at 10mph and why the station at Warrington is called Bank Quay.
