Russia looking for an excuse to invade Ukraine, senior US official says

A senior United States official has told Sky News she thinks Russia is looking for an excuse to invade Ukraine. US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland has warned of widespread economic and political consequences as Russia insist its presence on the Ukraine border is part of an exercise. “This is straight out of the Russian playbook to try to, through sabotage operations, through false flag operations, through blaming the other guy, to create that pretext to give an excuse to go in,“ Ms Nuland said. “It’s extremely worrying.“
