Suite Mr Beveridge’s Maggot and The Hole in The Wall

This dance has become very popular following the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth. The Chestnut dancers follow Pat Shaw’s version who went back to the Henry Playford’s description with only one B asked for the first couple turning inward and I went a step further with second couple turning outward and holding out easy works !! Although we are dancing in our Regency Clothes in the magnificent castle of Neuville, we do know that it is unlikely that Jane Austen would have danced Mr Beveridge’s Maggot, nor Hole in the Wall for that matter. These two dances were edited respectively in 1695 and 1698.
