Curiosity Shop (1957)

London. A woman talks on the telephone. As she finishes, camera reveals that this is not only a telephone but a flower holder as well! C/U shot of the ’telephone-flower-holder’. Woman’s hands are seen (great nails, great ring) writing a message on a piece of paper and using gold plated mousetrap as a paper clip. C/U shot of the gold-plated-mouse-trap-paper-clip. Mrs Susan Nell, a woman seen in the film, is the owner of a very unusual shop - ’curiosity shop’ where she sells peculiar objects from around the world. Mrs Nell decides to walk around the shop and present some of the curiosity objects from her shop to the audience. She shows her chosen objects to a man - ’potential customer’. The two are shot next to a huge flower arrangement with most of the flowers being red roses. All objects are presented in C/U which allows an audience to closely observe them.
