Did they not take into account how the Russians would react, knowledgeable as they were, of Jim Baker and President George H .W. Bush’s promise, NATO will never move one inch eastward, how Russia would react to its having moved 800 miles eastward, Poland, and then trying to assimilate Ukraine?
