’No BS’ Self-Defense for Regular People? - Know Yourself!

Almost everyone has a tendency to over-estimate their skill, knowledge, and physical ability (professional athletes being an obvious exception). Combine that with all the over-hyped marketing of gimmicky self-defense tools designed to bolster the buyers confidence and you have a potentially dangerous trend for real-life encounters. Actual brawls and criminal assaults on the street are not like movie fights where the badass hero takes down a horde of villains. Fortunately in most places everyday life is much safer than some fictional dark alleys. Either way, if you care about personal protection I think it’s essential to think it through and be realistic before you go for an option that you aren’t truly prepared to use or take unnecessary risk. I’m by no means claiming any authority on unarmed martial arts, as my experience is limited compared to dedicated self-defense experts or professional fighters.
