The Labour candidate for Rochdale, Azhar Ali, has apologised after he reportedly said Israel had been warned about the 7 October attack and allowed it to happen. It comes ahead of the anticipated Israeli military offensive in the southern Gaza city of Rafah. Officials from around the international community have warned Israel that the invasion of Rafah could have catastrophic consequences. Elsewhere the House of Lords is set to vote on prime minister Rishi Sunak’s embattled Rwanda Bill.
