Richards - Warblings at Dawn,

Richards’s another composition, ’Warblings at Eve’, is a relatively popular salon piece - however, its apparent companion piece seems to be less frequently recorded. These two pieces share many features, including similar melodies, ’bird chirp’ embellishments, and arpeggiated melodic patterns. Thanks for listening! About the work: Henry Brinley Richards (1817-1885) was a Welsh composer who studied with Chopin and later taught piano at the Royal Academy of Music. Richards’ most famous work is the song, ’God Bless the Prince of Wales’ (1862), written in honour of the future King Edward VII of the United Kingdom. ’Warblings at Dawn’, (also published in Germany under the title ’Morgendämmerungs-Stimmen’) was dedicated to Fräulein Grace Aguilar. #piano #classicalmusic
