Flip Cup Magic!

#arttechnique #flipcup #fluidart Hi all! This is a flip cup painting that I resorted to after having numerous fails on a day where I had fail after fail. I didn’t want to waste the paint and decided that the best course of action was to go in another direction, so instead of trying for another bloom technique I layered my colors in a cup instead! It’s still the SheleeArt recipe, but by putting in the cell activator in the bottom of the cup first, it reacts with the other colors and gives really cool effects! Should I do more of these? Your feedback is incredibly valuable, so please share your thoughts in the comments section. Thank you for joining me on this creative journey! 🙏 🥳 Don’t forget! I’m holding a Black Friday sale! PATREON: THE RECIPE: House Paint-base aka puddle for the substrate: PPG Multi-Pro in Satin at Home Depot. Pouring Medium aka PM Recipe: mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator: Behr 8300 Untinted Deep Base Paint (Home Depot); and Valspar High Gloss Ultra Base C Untinted base (Lowe’s). 50/50. Mix well. NO varnish added! Use the colors of your choice! These tutorials are meant to educate and inspire! Here’s how to mix: Pigments: For a 3 oz cup I add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of pigment powder to the cup, then add enough gloss varnish (any brand; I use JoSonja gloss varnish) to cover the powder. Mix well until all pigment is thoroughly wet; then add the pouring medium. Any brand fluid or high flow acrylics: I put about 2-2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade. Mix well. For tube paint, I added an ounce of paint (heaping tablespoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick I add a squirt of Golden’s High Flow Medium (thins and extends acrylic colors) and stir well. All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it (stir really well), then add into a 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well. Cell Activator/Color: Australian Floetrol Amsterdam Carbon Black and Titanium White . 2.5 -1 ratio Floetrol to paint.
