Temporary housing is being built to relocate those affected by the recent magnitude-6.2 earthquake that shook Jishishan County in northwest China’s Gansu Province, and a temporary field kitchen is busy preparing for the winter solstice to help the victims celebrate the period with as much normalcy and good cheer as possible. According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the earthquake jolted Jishishan County at midnight on Monday at a depth of 10 kilometers. The death toll in Qinghai has brought the total number of people killed due to the strong quake to 135, as another 113 lives were lost in neighboring Gansu Province. The water supply in Jishishan County, northwest China’s Gansu Province, was completely restored on Thursday.
