When the Kaiser Saved Britain: Wilhelm, Britain, and the Boer War

Between 1899 and 1900, Wilhelm II, Ruler of the German Empire, faced a choice. As Britain engaged in the Boer War, France and Russia looked to take advantage. Germany could very well decide whether they would be able to. The Kaiser had a long held and very public sympathy for the Boers, yet remarkably, in the first year of the war, it was down to his influence alone that a continental league against Britain failed to take shape.
