The Prophecy

A few years ago my love for the cello lead me towards a passion for composing music. Although I only write in a small way, each melody that stays with me is special and represents another step in this journey. As an avid Tolkien fan I always enjoyed the beauty of the Professor’s writing and poetry. One day, reading through the poem The Horse and the Rider I took my guitar and wrote a simple melody to fit the words. Since then combining my music with Tolkien’s poetry has been an ongoing project of mine. I only have a very small home recording system, but I try to capture the essence of Tolkien’s words in a way that blesses you as you listen. I decided to post my first song today (on September the 22nd in honor of Bilbo and Frodo’s birthday!). I call it The Prophecy and it speaks of Aragorn and his destiny, but I think it also has other truths to share as well. I look forward to your feedback, and will try and post more songs as I finish them. Robert Brown, a stellar musician, recorded the beautiful guitar part for me. Enjoy!
