Icon, muse, performer, furniture designer, serial collaborator, Michèle Lamy has invented the concept of the multi-hyphen career. Immediately recognizable with her Berber-inspired tattoos and inimitable style, she was once a defense lawyer in Paris, then the owner of not one but two notorious artists hangouts in Los Angeles, before turning her hand to couture. A true powerhouse – not least in her role as co-founder of Owenscorp with her husband, designer Rick Owens – Lamy is also a keen champion of contemporary artists, from Arthur Jafa to Barry X Ball and Mark Leckey. In this new episode of Meet the Collectors, she gives Art Basel a tour of her art-filled home, Place du Palais Bourbon, in Paris.
