Streets destroyed after night of violence in Southport leaves 39 cops injured in ’sickening’ riots

The mum of one of the three children killed in the Southport knife rampage has issued a plea to “stop the violence“ as 39 police officers were left injured in riots last night. Cops clashed with rioters outside a mosque in the Merseyside town near where three children were killed in a horror stabbing on Monday. Those involved in the unrest included supporters of the English Defence League, the force said. The mob set alight cars belonging to members of the public, threw bricks at the local mosque, damaged a local convenience store and set wheelie bins on fire.
