Various shots as South Africa, in dark shirts, kick off. M/S South African player with the ball, he passes to a colleague who is tackled by Alexander Pedlow. The ball goes to Jan Engelbrecht who is tackled by Niall Brophy. Engelbrecht manages to get the ball away to Hendrik Van Zyl who kicks up field. M/S J. C. Walsh running after the ball, he is tackled by two Springboks and brought down. Hendrik Pelser starts to run with the ball, he wards off a tackle by Patrick O’Sullivan. M/S of the players fighting for the ball and going down into a scrum. Ball is passed to John Gainsford, he is tackled by O’Sullivan and passes the ball to Engelbrecht who is brought down by Thomas Kiernan and another player. M/S massed crowds. Various shots as Kiernan takes penalty kick. It goes between the posts to give Ireland a three point lead, camera pans down
