A unique feature of this village is the river running underneath some of the cottages, home to large trout, ducks, and swans. a rare sight with an intriguing history. Enjoy a walk along the river, less than a two-hour drive from London. Friendly residents create a welcoming atmosphere, and there are lovely spots for children to feed the ducks. 📍Stoke Charity The River Dever, a chalk stream in Hampshire County, boasts crystal clear waters where you can fish. a local friend showed me a great fishing spot. Using bread as bait, he caught and released a decent-sized wild brown trout. As I wandered the village, I saw free-range chickens. I had the most stunning lunch spot right on the river, surrounded by ducks and geese, enjoying delicious trout with dill sauce. 📍Wherwell Another nearby village on the River Test is known for its charming scenery and the legend of the two-legged dragon. Church Street is lined with beautiful thatched cottages. 📍East Stratton This incredibly beautiful estate village in Winchester, Hampshire, has a rich history. The name Stratton comes from Old English, meaning farmstead or village on a Roman road. This picturesque village feels like something out of a fairytale storybook, with stunning thatched homes and historic landmarks. 📍River AIre Enjoy the classic English countryside with shallow gravel beds and fast-flowing waters. Easily accessed from Broad Street, follow the riverside path through unspoiled Hampshire countryside.
