Dry Stone Walls, Domes & Arches slideshow. Just because I had a file of images sitting there.

#drystone Dry stone structures (no mortar or binding) are beautiful examples of exquisite design and construction. Including examples of ashlar masonry reserved for only the most expensive and spectacular constructions anywhere. A great mini documentary on dry stone walls and the importance they have on several cultures. Rather than monumental structures in a single location dry stone walls such as these are built over large areas. Take the walls in a small region and add them up they get very big very fast. A lot like Roman aqueducts, spread over massive distances the “true scale“ of these precisely constructed is missed in favour of temples that are built up on a single location.
