Ok here is the story behind all this :) As a surprise, I flew out to Texas and surprised all my Academy girls by seeing their recital and spending time w/ them all weekend. As another surprise, Jesi flew back with me to NC so that she could spend time w/ me and learn this new solo! This will be her solo for the year, as well as for her drill team competitions. This is her costume also, thanks to Emily C. Shock for this amazing idea of using a turtleneck. All credit goes to her on that. As for the turtleneck... the idea is that she’s feeling really trapped... I won’t go into what or why because that is her personal story, but it’s very confining and binding. Towards the middle, she learns to reveal HERSELF and take off these layers... finally by the end, she’s done with the “thing“ that kept her so hidden and upset and she finally lets it go.
