El Alfabeto: The Alphabet in Spanish Song by Risas y Sonrisas

The Alphabet is one of the first songs Risas y Sonrisas created back in 1993. Since then, “La Real Academia de la Lengua Española” removed the letters “CH” and “LL” from the alphabet. We have been so successful introducing pronunciation with all the letter sounds including the “rr” that we have decided to leave the song as it is and explain to the students that to say the alphabet (which is never used in practical terms) they just need to remove those letters. Songs are the fastest pathway to embed information in our brains. Music is just one of the elements of the Risas y Sonrisas Spanish Curriculum. Activating the vocabulary in the song with games and useful phrases is what’s going to make it meaningful.
