Niger Military To Prosecute Mohammed Bazoum For High Treason

Niger Military To Prosecute Mohammed Bazoum For High Treason - The National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland in Niger, the military body that orchestrated the government’s overthrow in July, released an official statement on Sunday, August 13th, 2023, asserting that it possesses substantial evidence to initiate legal proceedings against the former President of Niger, Mohamed Bazoum. The charges brought forth include the grave accusations of “high treason“ and “undermining“ the nation’s security. “The Nigerien government has to date, gathered the necessary evidence to prosecute the deposed president and his local and foreign accomplices before the competent national and international authorities for high treason and undermining internal and external security of Niger,” the statement further stated. High treason, also known as treason, is a serious criminal offence involving betrayal or disloyalty to one’s own country. It typically involves actions that endanger the security, sovereignty, or integrity of a nation. High treason charges are brought against individuals who engage in activities that undermine the government, aid enemies of the state, or compromise national security. The consequences of treason can be severe. In many countries, it is punishable by death. Even in countries where it is not punishable by death, treason can result in a long prison sentence. In addition, traitors may be stripped of their citizenship and their assets may be confiscated. In the context of the Niger coup, the junta that ousted Bazoum believes that his actions or decisions while in power, particularly his collaboration with foreign powers, were detrimental to the country’s security and sovereignty. The junta believes that the former president engaged in activities or made decisions that favoured foreign powers at the expense of Niger’s interests, hence warranting these grave charges. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✅SUPPORT US /AFFILIATE LINKS Use this affiliate link for your purchases at #MIZIZI International - Support our channel - PayPal: newafricachannel(at) Follow us on Instagram - Follow us on Twitter - Join us on Facebook - ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✅COPYRIGHT DISCLAIMER The New Africa Channel doesn’t fully own some of the materials compiled in its videos.
