“Publichka“ or the Russian National Library is one of the largest book depositories in the world. By the 1970s, the volume of books increased by 600,000 copies annually! There was not enough space, so the old building in the center of Leningrad had to be closed. By 1982, the project for a new building on Moskovsky Prospekt was approved. But construction was delayed until 2003. And then a fountain appeared at the new library. But it quickly fell into disrepair - the Soviet project offered too outdated technologies. In 2020 the fountain was closed for repairs, by October 2021 it was handed over, but it was launched only in the new season - in April 2022.
