JERUSALEMA (RMX) - Tambor Sax

My friend and incredibly talented musician Neney Santos, the djembe player in this video, is about to travel to Brasil, his native land, for 2 months. We had to make a video before that! At first, we didn’t really know what song would be best in order to show the capabilities of both the sax and the djembe, but I was reminded by somebody on my channel that I never played “Jerusalema“. The song is from Africa and the djembe also comes from there, so the idea clicked. I made the new backing track and I sent the arrangement to Neney and that was it: we were gonna record the video without ever played once the song together. 😂 The next day we traveled to Sabaudia, 2 hours from Rome, with the blessing of the fantastic weather. There was great energy in the air and between Neney and me too. The sun shining, the strong waves, the wind, and the colors were all helping us to sing our hearts out. On the day of shooting the movie, we started filming at a stairway going down to a beach club, now empty and inhabited. After that we came down to the beach and touching the sand was amazing, flashing memories of childhood in the summer came back to us. We filmed there with a camera e with a drone. We did it all by ourselves, as we could not find a professional on such short notice and also we wanted to test if it would be possible to do videos like this all by ourselves, with free ideas coming up and the search for solutions on how to make the shot the best we can do. Not that we can compete with professionals, it is just so much fun to do that we want to train ourselves more to reach a decent level. JERUSALEMA is a hymn about the promise by God of a new CITY OF JERUSALEM, in the BOOK of REVELATION. For us, the song is a prayer for better times as we wish to be able to play live for people. We miss the contact with the audience, the energy, the looks, and the laughs, and so on and on. We miss also being together as friends: music connected us from the start and in a very fortunate way, Neney and I complete ourselves. I hope you enjoy our version and can dive for 4 minutes into a pre-summer day at the beach with us and our music.
