Unseen Horizons Reel 1 (1958)

1958? Opening sequence: a little blind boy, wearing dark glasses, drives a little car along a country lane. He stops, gets out and walks slowly up some steps towards camera. Titles: ’UNSEEN HORIZONS’. Two women walk up the driveway of country house with small children. M/S of sign: ’Sunshine House - Nursery School for Blind Children - Conducted by the Royal National Institute for the Blind.’ Children play on roundabout, slides, swings in the garden. Nurses cuddle children and watch them play. The boy we saw earlier knocks his car into a fence post. A teacher stands with him as he gets out to touch whatever is in the way, then gets back into the car and drives on up the path. Children playing with wooden blocks, puzzles and plastic containers in a sink in a classroom. In a sitting room, children sit around, listening to music on a record player while their teacher sits knitting. A mother sitting chatting to a teacher in the garden leaps up to alert her small daughter when she is about to walk
