Helen Folasade Adu was born in Ibadan, Nigeria and had a lifelong dream of working in the fashion industry. When presented with the opportunity to become the lead singer with a band of talented musicians, she agreed, and the group Sade was born. After nearly four decades in the entertainment business, she has sold over 50 million records across the globe but has released only six studio albums. Here’s the real reason she continues to take long breaks from the industry.
