They do so with @GhostNoteOfficialProductions, the band (with a changeable iteration) that they created after both having been members of Snarky Puppy. As part of Michael League’s much-loved outfit, they would have discovered the key formula: percussive jazz with an infectious, Afro-funk groove; one that responds to the multicultural pulse of today’s world. Even during the slower moments of this concert, where song intros are gradually built up through percussive moods, there is an underlying rhythm that you know will speed you into full-blown funk before long. It is a testament to the skill and energy of Seabright and Werth, along with their accomplices, that the audience never tires of their propulsive compositions. The experience offered by Ghost-Note is, in many ways, an all-consuming one. They heap it all in together – D’Angelo’s funk with the expressiveness of free jazz – leaving you feeling assaulted, satiated, and hungry for more.
