Other kings had done the same, of course. Louis was different in that he actually interpreted his kingly duties in the light of faith. After the violence of two previous reigns, he brought peace and justice. The axis of the song centers around Louis’ appeal to his barons, who have doubts and excuses for not accompanying him. However, the king will contest his objections one by one. At the end of the song the king will succeed in convincing his vassals to accompany him, and then they embarked for Egypt. Louis deserves credit for extending justice in civil administration. His regulations for royal officials became the first of a series of reform laws. He replaced trial by battle with a form of examination of witnesses and encouraged the use of written records in court. ---- Top Patrons: (10 $ or more donation) Slawomir Dave Szarata, James, Maggie sweet,Tito James Francis, Wiktora Zatorski, Eric Montes, Owhotwaterohno, GrayKing, Mason Goodwater, Jason Breed, Battle Brother, DJ, William Fiedor, Patrick McCormick, Mobius, Dominique Blouin, Ryan Magoon, Brendon Wade, Dimitrije Ratkov,Joseph moustaky Ross ketter, Piotr Klasa, Enrique Montes, t, Christopher, Christian Ramos, James A Panter, Joseph Blain, SPUD, Lord Funkicus, GKPoshChap ---- Chant text in French: Le Roy Louis a convoqué, Tous ses barons et chevaliers.
