A Civil Disturbance - Wounded Knee ’73

Raiders - Indian Reservation On February 27th, 200 armed protesters, mostly made up of Lakota and other American Indians occupied the town of Wounded Knee, with demands for both the Reservations corrupt officials and the US government. During the 71 days of the siege, defences were dug and multiple shootouts occurred, leading to the National Guard, FBI and Marshal Service and Air National Guard being sent to lay siege to the town. On April 15th, Cherokee Indian Frank Clearwater and his pregnant wife arrived at Wounded Knee to support the protest occupation there. Less than 24 hours later he would be dead, shot by an FBI sniper. He was one of two protesters killed during the Occupation of Wounded Knee, however he was forbidden to be buried at the site despite his wife’s request as he was from another nation.
