Lyudmila Grigoryan - Shoushi (Armenian song)

It is a song dedicated to the fortress city of Shushi, performed by Lyudmila Grigoryan. Music and lyrics by Madlen Asaturian. This unaccompanied vocal performance was recorded in an old Armenian church in Shushi. The town was captured and occupied by Azerbaijani forces for several months in 1992, and ironically, it was from this town that the Azerbaijanis launched the shell that destroyed singer Lyudmila Grigorian’s home and injured both her and her daughter. Perhaps unsurprisingly, there is a special poignance in her performance of this recent song marking the recapture of Shushi by forces of Artsakh.
