Madeira is one of the destinations in our network for which you need extra training. In this case only the captain (after completing the training) is allowed to land at this airport. This airport is challenging because of the terrain around the airport and the wind conditions. Due to the terrain we can not fly in a straight line to the runway. The combination wind and terrain can make it very challenging to land at this airport. There are even certain wind directions and strengths, that make it impossible to land. This flight shows a preferable condition for our passengers. Hardly any wind and good visibility. A joy for us as a pilot and the passengers too!
