What is Brugada Syndrome and how can it cause sudden heart related death?

Brugada syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that gives rise to abnormal electrical activity within the heart, typically when the person is at rest, increasing the risk of sudden cardiac arrest resulting in death. Cardiac arrest in such cases is secondary to acute ventricular fibrillation, and the average age of death is 41 years. Clinical reports also suggest that sudden death in people with Brugada syndrome most often happens during the period of sleep.
