Land Of The Fairy Chimneys (1967)

Cappadocia, Turkey. Several shots of a village in Turkey where erosion of volcanic rock has formed numerous strange, chimney-type shapes; commentator refers to them as Fairy Chimneys. Homes have been hollowed out from the cliffs; people sit at a cliff-top cafe. A woman walks with a donkey loaded with jugs to a well and uses a pump to get water. Other donkeys walk about laden with sacks full of vegetables (?). General views of the village; a minaret is seen in the distance; a man standing in a tower calls people to prayer; school children rush to look over a wall - presumably at the Pathe cameraman! Cuts exist - see separate record. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV. IT’S FULL OF GREAT DOCUMENTARIES, FASCINATING INTERVIEWS, AND CLASSIC MOVIES.
