Vasily Andreev - Waltz "L’Orchidée"

The most charming of the Russian waltzes, Orchid, was released by the St. Petersburg publishing house of Zimmermann in a luxurious art nouveau design. The fantastically gorgeous pale purple orchid is framed with fabulous harps that only magic elves (artist Vasily Chenet) could play. The score is here: вальсы/орхидея-андреев/ The author is Vasily Vasilyevich Andreev, the famous balalaika virtuoso (who also owned the piano art), the founder of the first orchestra of folk instruments in the Russian Empire. Andreev’s European fame began in 1889, when the “Balalaika Lovers’ Ensemble“ created by him made a splash at the World Exhibition in Paris (the same one for which the Eiffel Tower was built).
