Even in Germany at the beginning of the 20th century, Faure’s piano music was recognized as exceptional. At Leipzig, the firm of Hupfeld recorded quite a number of his pieces on piano rolls, either by the composer himself or pianists from his circle. One such was Clotilde Kleeberg (1866 - 1909) a child prodigy who was taught at the Paris Conservatoire by Louise Massart. At the age of 11 she gained the highest marks in the Conservatoire’s examninations and by 12 was performing in public concerts playing work
