It’s a big wide world, Moo—let’s go exploring!“ Genre: Whimsical fantasy adventure If you enjoyed the short, like this video and share your thoughts in the comments below! _______________________________________________________ Meet the Artist Ryan Hobbs, Animation Supervisor at Mercury Filmworks Ryan Hobbs is an animator, trainer, and animation supervisor who’s worked at Mercury Filmworks since 2005. He grew up as a rural kid on the family-run Dellaway Farms in Quyon, Quebec. While farm labour was not to his taste as an occupation, he clearly has a fondness for cattle and the natural world that continues to inform his artistic pursuits. Like Moo, he struggles with anxiety, but nevertheless, they persist. Ryan has always enjoyed maps, whether at the start of a fantasy adventure novel—carefully checking throughout the story to know where on the map the characters were, of course— or while uncovering the landscape in video games like Super Mario World and Final Fantasy. Ever since college, where he joined his first Dungeons and Dragons group, maps have featured largely in the tabletop games he plays with his friends. There’s always something lurking over the next hill, be it the discovery of an owlbear den or a wizard’s tower of portals to explore. Ryan Hobbs lives in Ottawa, Ontario, with his partner Sabrina and their two cats, Pancake and Waffle. He strongly believes in social progress to bring about justice, equity, and a better world for all its people.
