John Mayer - Neon right hand technique (most accurate on youtube)

I wanted to make this tab as close as possible to what John Mayer does, because I have never seen anyone play this song the right way in my life. This is just the intro because the purpose of this is learning the right hand rhythm and how play it correctly. There are plenty of tabs with the rest of the chords for the chorus etc. Once you get that rhythm the rest of the song will come naturally. There are a few things to consider: - He plays the chords alternating between thumb/index finger. There’s a very interesting right hand rhythm that JM does that’s completely different from anything I have ever seen, his hands are always moving up and down maintaining rhythm. Watch his live videos you will notice that. - He plays a “bass line“ and does the thumb-slap at the same time. He doesn’t pluck the 6th string, he literally hits it with his thumb to get the thumb-slap effect and play the note at the same time (this happens where the X’s are in the tabs). - Play exactly like the tabs and try to understand the right hand movement. Once you get it right you will notice how intuitive it is and how everything seems to fit perfectly. TABS: . - thumb , - index X - thumb-slaps (when the X is in the 5th string means that he hits the 6th string very hard with his thumb to play the note and slap at the same time. This is the “secret ingredient“ that nearly nobody does when playing this song.)
