Funky Fretless Rock Bass Roller Coaster

Funky good times on my fretless Cortex bass with some fun grooves with triplets, harmonics, slides & double stops. Trying to explore the sonic possibilities of this punchy Cortex, single take roller coaster style :) Love the expressiveness of playing fretless, for the Groove Lab I choose to approach intonation freely in a composition like this, I’m having fun expressing myself that’s what it’s about, fretless is waaay too fun to not let go sometimes! I’m playing a Swiss Cortex bass with an epoxied flamed maple fingerboard, chocolate maple neck, walnut body and spalted maple top, strung up with Ernie Ball Super Slinkys. It’s got a Nordstrand Dual Coil pickup with 2 band eq, both on full here! I used 2 pedals, a Darkglass Hyper Luminal compressor and a Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra preamp, I recorded with the DI out from the Alpha straight into my audio interface.
