Ideal Home Exhibition (1959)

Titles read: “OLYMPIA - IDEAL HOME EXHIBITION“. London. Pan across exhibition hall at the Ideal Home Exhibition. M/S of a replica of Blenheim Palace in the hall. People wander about a set of modern houses set amongst trees with a pond on the foreground. A man comes out of one of the houses and opens his snazzy garage door. In another area we see a woman unrolling a roll-up ladder (Bentall Easyroll). Two women walk through artificial gardens, past a lake with fountains springing from either side. They wander about the gardens that are a replica of Winston Churchill’s at Chartwell Manor. View of set of modern houses. Inside we see a woman sitting in an armchair and adjusting a Dimplex portable infrared electric fire (bar heater). Looks very old-fashioned now but at the time must have seemed quite space-age on that 50s carpet. Another girl turns on a Bylock Heatmaster Fan Heater and holds her scarf in front of it. In a kitchen a woman opens a Rotisserie Electric Cooker and we see a roast
