Austin police say 2 suspects wanted in shooting that left 14 people injured

City of Austin Interim Police Chief Joseph Chacon said on Saturday that investigators have identified two suspects wanted in connection with an overnight shooting in the downtown entertainment district. “We have developed suspects in this case. There are two male suspects,“ Chacon said. “We are actively working to get them into custody.“ Fourteen people were injured when gunfire rang out just before 1:30 a.m. along 6th Street. No deaths have been reported. Chacon also told reporters the preliminary investigation indicates gunfire erupted during an altercation between two groups of people, and that he believes most of the victims were innocent bystanders. The Republic of Texas motorcycle rally is also taking place this weekend, adding to the normal crowds, but the interim chief made clear he doesn’t believe the shooting was in any way related to that event.
