81 years ago the blockade seal of Leningrad was broken through. This happened to the accompaniment of artillery cannonade and the sounds of the “Internationale” (at that time the anthem of the USSR). The orchestra played it right in the trenches. During Operation Iskra, the Red Army was able to break through a corridor along the bank of the Neva up to 11 km wide. Until this day, the city was connected to the mainland by the famous “Road of Life” along the ice of Lake Ladoga. The blockade of Leningrad was completely lifted only a year later - on January 27, 1944. It lasted exactly 872 days. Источник: Slavyangrad
