Mirko Hirsch - From 1996 to 2021 - Foolin’ me - Amiga 500 vs. FL Studio - Tracker Music

25 years ago in 2021 I was a kid at school (12th grade). I liked writing my own songs but really wanted to have vocals on them. Together with my friend Maurice (aka Toto) we bought a used Golem sound sampler for only 40 DM (around 22 Euro today) from a former classmate of mine. We only had a cheap dynamic microphone and had to record everything onto a cassette tape before we could sample it into the Golem because you couldn’t plug the microphone into the sampler directly. Another problem was the RAM of the Amiga 500. In ProTracker, the software we were using back then, you only had a maximum free memory of about 450 kB - so less than 0.5 MB for all samples and the song data. That’s why our songs only had one verse but we played them loud and had so much fun. Today - I’m still enjoying the old stuff I did back then and felt that it’s time to remember some of the songs that somehow started it all. Enjoy this little trip back into the 90s.
