New Bremen Police Dashcam Footage From St Mary’s PD’s Pursuit

On Thursday, April 19th, 2018 at 10:08 p.m. a St. Marys Police Officer was unlocking a car near Phil’s One Stop Marathon gas station at the corner of Main St. and South St. A citizen ran to the officer indicating his Jeep was just stolen from the gas station and was headed eastbound on South St. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle and the vehicle failed to stop, initiating a pursuit. Stop sticks were deployed during the pursuit and were effective ending the pursuit in the 1100 block of Goettermoeller Rd. Arrested was Christopher W. Thornton, 38, of Phillipsburg, Ohio, charged with failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, child endangering, theft of a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest. A juvenile child related to the suspect was in the stolen vehicle at the time of the pursuit. The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, New Bremen Police, and Mercer County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
